Familiarize children ages 3-5 to the aquatic environment and help them acquire rudimentary basic aquatic skills. Help participants begin to develop positive attitudes and safe practrices in and around water.

31811 - Learn to Swim - Level 1

Introduction to Water Skills: To begin developing positive attitudes. good simming habits and safe practices in and around the water.

31812 - Learn to Swim - Level 2

Fundamentals of Aquatic Skills: To give participants success with fundamental sikills, including learning how to float without support and to recover to a vertical position. Register only if participant has previously passed Level 1.

31813 - Learn to Swim - Level 3

Stroke Development: To build on the skills in Level 2 by providing additional guided practice in deeper water. Register only if participant has previously passed Level 2.

31814 - Learn to Swim - Level 4

Stroke Improvement: To develop participants' confidence in the strokes learned in level 3 and to improve other aquatic skills. Register only if participant has previously passed Level 3.

31815 - Learn to Swim - Level 5

Stroke Refinement: To further learn how to coordinate and refine strokes. Register only if participant has previously passed Level 4.

31816 - Learn to Swim - Level 6

Swimming and Skill Proficiency: To refine strokes so participants swim them more ease, efficiency, power, and smoothness and over greater distances. To teach students how to prevent aquatic emergencies in various environments. to introduce and practice self-rescue techniques. to introduce and practice fundamental springboard diving skills. Register only if participant has previously passed Level 5.

31871 - Lifeguarding Certification

The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course is to teach lifeguard candidates the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. This course content and activities prepare candidates to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drownings and injuries.

31872 - WSI Certification

The Water Safety Instructor Certification Course trains WSI candidates to teach courses and presentations in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program by developing their understanding of how to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate participants progress.

31873 - Private Swim Lessons

Scott County Park Pool offers 1 on 1 lessons with certified Red Cross WSI instructors. Private or semi-private swim lessons allow the participant to work at a personalized level to achieve swim goals. Private swim lessons are a good way to help swimmers focus on a particular skill, or to help overcome a fear of the water.
